P.I.(s): Diana Verseghy -- Canadian Climate Centre (CCC)
Objectives: Field data collected during BOREAS are being used to test the modeling of the boreal forest in CLASS (Canadian Land Surface Scheme), a second-generation land surface model which has been developed for the Canadian Climate Centre (CCC) Global Circulation Model (GCM) by the investigator. Data from BOREAS has enabled the testing, refinement, and improvement of CLASS in the areas of bulk stomatal resistance, interception of rainfall and snowfall, and the evolution of the snowpack.
