One of the goals of the Oak Ridge DAAC NPP data compilation is to provide summary data on biomass and NPP from field measurements for use in model parameterization and validation. This page provides access to information, where available, on site characteristics, grouped into 4 or 5 tables for each major biome. N.B. Detailed biomass dynamics and climate data for each site are available through NPP Sites.
Grasslands:
Summary information is provided for 35 grassland sites currently in the database, and 7 other sites that were originally proposed for inclusion. Grasslands NPP may be estimated a number of different ways from field measurements, some of which may result in serious underestimates (see Grasslands NPP Estimation).
