The MODIS product subsets for North America and Worldwide are available in several formats, which are described in the following text.

MODIS Land Product ASCII Data

Description of File

File Content: Data as read from MODIS Land Product HDF-EOS data files. These data are the starting point for deriving the other subset data products.

Data Type: As indicated by Land Product Code (e.g., MOD15A2).

Data Format:

ASCII values are comma delimited.

Data values start in row 1. There is no header row.

Rows of QC data are interleaved with measurement data as indicated in Column 6.

Note that values may contain embedded periods, dashes, and underscores (".,-, _").

Header for Output Files when Center Pixel Lat/Lon coordinates were specified:

Header Row 1: Title of Project.

Header Row 4: Spatial extent of requested location.

Header Row 5: Temporal extent of request.

Description of File

File Content: Land Cover image data in ASCII Grid Format.

A general description of ASCII Grid Format is provided.

Note that this file contains Land Cover data for both the user requested location and spatial extent and the system generated 201 x 201 km area centered on the requested location.

Statistical Data for MODIS Land Products in Comma Separated Format

Description of File

File Content: This file contains statistical summaries for the requested MODIS Land Product over the specified spatial and temporal extents.

Summary statistics were calculated only for values passing all quality filtering criteria.

The first summary table was calculated on a subset of values based on having the same land cover class as the center pixel of the requested area.

The second table includes all values regardless of land cover.

Data Users, please note that there are two file header formats for this data product.

Header for Output Files when Center Pixel Lat/Lon coordinates were specified:

Two summary tables are provided for each Scientific Data Set reported:

The first, "Statistics for Pixels with the same Land Cover Class as the Center Pixel Passing Quality Filter [Scaled Values]".

The second, "Statistics for Pixels Passing Quality Filter [Scaled Values]". Land cover was not considered.

All values have been scaled by the scale factor reported in the "QC-Filtered Data and Statistics Generated for this Request" output product.

There is a header row with column names. See table for expanded description.
