A REDE HIDROMETEOROLÓGICA BÁSICA NACIONAL - Sob Administração da Agência Nacional de Águas

Abstract: Brazil´s National Water Agency maintains a network of strategically located hydrometeorological stations that is capable of providing data for the formulation of public policies pertaining to nation wide water resources management. That data is available on the internet; and as South America´s largest hydrometeorological network is continually upgraded, more monitoring points offer real time data. The Agency has a proposal to improve the basic network, increasing the number of stations, especially in the Amazon region, using more dataloggers and transmitting data with the aid of satellites. Those upgrades are estimated to cost some 10.5 million USD.
